Lijiang is the heart of the Naxi minority and its old town is now an UNESCO World heritage sites. Ancient canals criss-crossed the old town filled with unique well-preserved house. You still find traditionally clad old Naxi Women selling their trade on the bricks alleys. You will explore the area with walking tours & driving. We also include the stunning large scale cultural show choreographed by the famous Chinese Director Zhang Yi Mou with more than 500 dancers as well as horses with the Jade Dragon Mountain as the backdrop
The highlight for the family is perhaps the 2 days/1 night Tiger Leaping Gorge hike. Tramp through lovely cultivated terraces along precipitous gorges with the snow-capped Jade Dragon Mountain in constant view. You will also encounter simple rural folks on their daily life.

Upon arrival in Lijiang, met & transfer to the hotel.
If using morning flight, after short rest, walk into Lijiang Old Town for a stroll through its maze of canals, old wooden buildings. narrow cobbled streets and back street markets filled with Naxi women in traditional dress. As the day wanes, ascend Lion Hill for a bird's eye view of the town during sunset.
DAY 02LIJIANG / QIAOTOU / OLD TEA HORSE GUESTHOUSE
Drive about 1.5 hours from Lijiang to Qiaotou, which mean heads of the bridge. From here, pick up your pony that will carry your luggages and start your trek. The trail rises alternating between forest and cultivated farmland. After 2 hours arrive in Naxi Family Guesthouse for your lunch.
Immediately after lunch, it is the most challenging part of the trek as the trail rises steeply with "28 bends" to the top of the ride. From here on, you hike high up the valley along the gorge with the gushing river deep below. The view of the gorge and the Jade Dragon Mountain is stupendous from here on.
Arrive at Old Tea Horse Guesthouse, your accommodation for the night. This family-run guesthouse offers simple clean room with attached shower and toilet.

DAY 03OLD TEA HORSE GUESTHOUSE / LIJIANG
Continue along the gorge enjoying more beautiful for another 2 hours until Half-way Guesthouse. From, start your descent through lovely cultivation and villages for another 2 hours to Tina Guesthouse where your transport awaits to take you back to Lijiang.

DAY 04LIJIANG
This morning, we explore the outskirt of Lijiang. Drive through lovely sceneries and visit the villages of Longquan, Baisha (for the mural) and Yuhu (Jade Lake) as well as the home of explorer Joseph Rock. You will enjoy a lunch in a farmhouse in Longquan.
In the afternoon, enjoy the "Impression of Lijiang" show. This unique show is choreographed by the famous Chinese director Zhang Yi Mou and it involves more than 500 hundred dancers in their best ethnic costumes plus horses performing outdoor with the stunning Jade Dragon Mountain as the backdrop.
Late afternoon, visit the Black Dragon Pond, a lovely park with green pastures, waterfalls and meandering streams. There is also a small but interesting Dongba Institute.

DAY 05LIJIANG / BEIJING OR SHANGHAI
Transfer to the airport for flight to back home, one hour stop in Kunming.
